This Sunday Yate Star Judo Club held a Judo competition for 3rd Mon and below players. These type of competitions are ideal introduction for relatively new players.

Congratulations goes to Zak Harding for his bravery. Zak was doubly brave in the fact that he was the only Ronindo player to enter this competition and in the way that he fought on the day.

The day started with a very long drive to Bristol as the M5 was closed due to the accident on Friday. When Zak arrived he made his way to the weigh in desk and weighed in with the rest of the competitors and then waited to be called. This was Zaks first ever competition and he was naturally a little nervous. Ray was there to help and support him and make sure he knew what was happening.

Zaks first fight was a little bit of a shock as competitive judo can be very fierce, unfortunately Zak was not ready for this and he was caught with a throw and lost his first bout. Undeterred and now forearmed Zak was not going to let that happen again and he fought with courage and skill winning all his other fights with some really nice Judo that included both throws and hold downs.

At he end of the day Zak had shown true judo spirit and earned himself a silver medal, I`m sure this is to be the first of many Judo victories, WELL DONE ZAK.
